Analisa Faktor-Faktor Yang Memengaruhi Adopsi Bank Syariah Oleh Generasi Milenial Di Indonesia
"Goal:. This study aims to analyze the factors influencing the adoption of Islamic banking
by the millennial generation in Indonesia. The focus on this productive age group is based
on their potential as primary users of Islamic financial services, given their adaptive
characteristics to innovation and technology, and their current dominant generation in
Indonesia. Using a modified and expanded Diffusion of Innovation (DOI) theory
approach, this study examines the influence of five independent variables: relative
advantage, compatibility, knowledge, trust, and social influence on the adoption intention
of Islamic banks.
Methods: This study employed quantitative methods with an explanatory approach. Data
were collected through an online survey involving 115 millennial respondents (born
1981–1996) across various regions in Indonesia. The research instrument was developed
as a questionnaire with a Likert scale, and the data were analyzed using Partial Least
Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to test construct validity and the
relationships between variables.
Fact/Finding: This study found that compatibility, knowledge, and social influence have
a positive and significant influence on the adoption of Islamic banking. These findings
indicate that the extent to which Islamic banking services align with personal values, an
individual's understanding of Islamic banking principles, and the influence of the social
environment significantly encourage millennials to adopt Islamic banking. Conversely,
the relative advantage variable, although positively related, has no significant effect. This
suggests that millennials have not yet seen any practical advantages or economic benefits
that significantly differentiate Islamic banks from conventional banks. Furthermore, the
trust variable even showed a negative and insignificant effect, indicating a gap in
perception or lack of confidence among millennials regarding the integrity, transparency,
or sharia commitment of existing Islamic banking institutions. These findings are
noteworthy, given that trust has long been considered a key foundation in Islamic
financial interactions"
